An IRS Form 4868 extension request gives you up through October 15, 2020 to file your federal tax return without incurring a failure to file penalty.

If you are receiving a tax refund there are no penalties for filing a tax return after the due date.  You have up to three years from the due date of your tax return to file for a tax refund.

If you are military deployed to a combat zone, go to this IRS Publication 3, Armed Forces' Tax Guide on page 30 for more information on when your tax return is due - https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p3.pdf#page=30
