I was trying to free file as i have done for several years. Covid resulted in an extra 1099G forcing me to use Deluxe. I used my dads but it still wants to charge me?

how do i not get charged?

If you are using your dad's TurboTax Desktop program, the charge may be to file the state return.

You can also try the IRS Free File, but then your tax return won't be saved to your TurboTax account. I also don't know what their policy on filing a state returns is.

Be sure to keep a copy of your tax returns.
