Solved

I will be married on January 15, 2018 and I'm wondering if it would be more wise to file jointly or separately. My annual is $56,000 and his is over $300,000.

If you were not married in 2017, then you will not be filing as married on your 2017 tax return.  You will make that choice next year when you file your 2018 tax return in 2019.  Best wishes!
