I will not claim head of household or be able to claim a dependant. What amount of tax shd I have taken out so I do not owe?

It sounds as if you want to pretty much break-even come tax time and not have to owe any taxes. Since you are telling me that you will not be filing as Head of Household and that you have no dependents, I would file as Single.  What you need to do is to go to your employer's HR department and ask to fill out a W-4.  Fill out all of the requested information and make sure you put Single in box 3.  To play it safe, put 0 on line 5 and the maximum amount of taxes will be withheld from every paycheck and you should not owe anything come tax return filing time.
