I would like to wait two more month to claim. It helps my return because I can claim my son for a total of 7 months . Is this legal and a ok thing to do ?

If the child was both in 2017 you can claim him on the 2017 return.  Just say he lived with you all year.  That is perfectly legal for a newborn.  You don't need seven months!

How old is the child? The time lived with you is only for year 2017.
