If i can e-file my federal return, why can't i e-file state this time around? Never had this problem before.

Did you get any message?   Go through the screens in the REVIEW section, and see if it tells you why  you are not yet able to efile the state return.

Normally, the Federal and State returns can be efiled at the same time (if all the state forms are available).   However, if the Federal return is efiled first separately, then the State return cannot be efiled until the Federal return has been accepted.

Are some of the state forms in your return not yet ready for efiling?   This time of year, in early filing season, some states have forms that are still being finalized.    You can check on state form availability dates with this table:
