If I changed my name in 2025, should I use my new name when filing my 2024 taxes? Or should I use the name on my 2024 W2 and tax documents?

I got a new driver's license and changed my name with social security as well all in 2025. But my tax documents from 2024 all reflect my old name that I had in 2024.

You should use your name as it is shown now, on your current social security card.

On your tax return enter the your name that is on your current Social Security card. The name on your tax return and the name on your tax forms, W-2 and/or 1099, do not have to match, only the SS number must be the same.
