Question

If I claim my mom as someone I support does that mean she can not claim herself on her taxes?

You are correct. If you claim your mom as a dependent, then she has to indicate on her own tax return that she can be claimed as a dependent by someone else.

Please read this TurboTax Help topic to check whether you can claim your mom as a dependent.

What type of 2021 income did she have?  If she qualifies as your dependent, she cannot "claim herself," even if you choose not to.
