Question

If I didn’t file my taxes last year why am I getting a email saying my taxes for this year can’t be completed until I give them my 2018 AGI?

If you did not file your 2018 return, enter '0' for your AGI.

Providing the prior year Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) is a security measure to help prevent identity theft when electronically filing your tax return.  Presumably, if someone were filing a fraudulent return they would not have access to that prior year AGI and could not file a return on your behalf.

But I didn’t file last year so how would I have my last years AGI?
