Yes, you have income sourced in the state you received the unemployment from, so you may need to file a tax return in that state.

You answer Yes, that you made money in another state. Unemployment is income from the state that pays it, even if you don't live in that state. If the state that paid you the unemployment taxes unemployment, you have to file a nonresident tax return in that state and pay tax on the unemployment. In most cases you will get a credit on your resident state tax return for part or all of the tax that you pay to the other state.


But not all states tax unemployment benefits. If the state that the unemployment is from does not tax unemployment, and you have no other income from that state, you do not have to file a tax return in the other state. In that case you can answer that you did not make money in another state.
