Question

If I have a 1099 form for $20 last year, do I have to report/import this? Can I do it in the free version? Thank you!

If that was your only income, you are not required to report it. You must report it if you had other income and are required to file a tax return. You must also report it if you had other 1099-MISC income or self employment income not reported on a form that added up to more than $400. That is because you must pay self employment tax on more than $400 of self employment income even if you don't owe federal income tax.

You can't use the Free Edition to enter a 1099-MISC. You may be able to use another free version from the Free File Program.

You qualify if you had $36,000 or less AGI or $69,000 or less military family AGI or qualify for EITC. Click on See if you qualify then Yes (if you do) then Start Now button, then choose Create an Account.

If by last year you meant 2018, you can't use the current online program to report that. It must be reported on a 2018 tax return. If it was 2019, you can include it on a return prepared on the current online program.
