If i have to mail my tax returns and haven't yet, are my taxes filed at all electronically?

No. If you chose the File by mail option, then your taxes will not be e-filed. You have to select one or the other.  File by mail and E-file are two different file options in TurboTax that you select on the File tab, on Step 3. If you revisit Step 3 on the File tab, you can switch from mail to e-file or vice versa in TurboTax; you can do this as long as you have not already e-filed or mailed your tax return. If you don't see the File tab, navigate to the home screen and click the Add a State button( you are not adding a state, this is to pull up the toolbar).

If you selected the File by mail option, then you are responsible for mailing the federal and state tax returns along with supporting documents such as W2, 1099, etc. TurboTax only prepares the return if you chose the file by mail option. If you chose to e-file the return, TurboTax prepares and e-files the tax return. If your return says Ready to Mail on the home screen, then you have to print it out yourself and mail it in.
