If you do not have a qualified person as a dependent you are not eligible for Head of Household.

if you don't have an eligible dependent then you can't file as HOH

if oyu did then you must have paid more than 1/2 the cost of keeping up a home lived in for more than 6 months by the eligible dependent

 

a qualifying dependent includes any of the following

qualifying child (but not if your not the custodial parent) or

parent - you must have provided over 1/2 their support, there gross income for 2020 must be less tan $4300 (social security doesn't count) and if they did not live with you you must must have paid more than 1/2 the cost of keeping up the parent's home or

qualifying relative but this excludes unrelated individuals and individuals treated as a qualifying relative only because of a multiple support agreement
