Question

If I'm owing money, do I pay online with a credit card or send an actual check to the IRS?

You can do either.  There are processing fees associated with using a credit card, so many taxpayers prefer to mail a check to avoid those.  

 

TurboTax will prepare the necessary voucher to accompany your check or you can pay with an electronic check here: IRS Payments.  You can also use this link to pay with a credit card, if you don't select this option inside of the TurboTax software.
