If I use TurboTax Full Service this year, then when I start TurboTax NEXT year, will it see all of the data that the Full Service expert entered?

Does the TurboTax Full Service expert perform the tax work within my TurboTax account? Does the deliverable from that service include: my account is updated with the current year's tax form information as determined by the Full Service expert? Or is the deliverable simply a PDF/documents *outside* of my TurboTax account?

I am asking because I am a long time TurboTax customer, and this year is unusually complex. So I could expert help this year, but next year will be less difficult, so I plan to go back to doing the taxes myself next year, ideally with all of the expert information provided by the Full Service accountant available in my TurboTax account. For example: depreciation schedules, carry-overs, etc.

Thanks.

Thanks, @Critter-3 , for clarifying the issue for this user, and for me.  I'm surprised to learn that TurboTax Live Full Service breaks the continuity of the TurboTax account for users.  I don't see any indication of that in any of the info I've read.

I did this one year so I know how it works ... the tax pros that TT contracts with must have a professional program of their own to complete a return for a client so that they can SIGN the return and enter their business info and ERO number none of which a DIY program has or will allow to be added.  As much as they would like to keep the truth in the shadows ( the man behind the curtain so to speak ) that is the brass facts.  The contracted tax pros are not allowed to contact the TT clients outside of their roles of being TT contractors ... in other words you cannot "poach" the TT clients.  They have modified the rules a bit over the years however one rule that cannot be broken is the IRS requirement that tax pros must sign the return they are paid to complete.  The LIVE service that can review and coach you on how to complete the return that you yourself actually do is outside of the "paid" tax pro lines which is why you can still use the TT DIY program  because you are still doing it yourself with some guidance and not turning it all over for independent preparation.

Based on the information I read in the TurboTax FAQ I'm linking below, your return is prepared fully for your review.  You can then have a telephone call with your Expert, electronically sign your return, and the Expert will file the return for you.  You can then download a PDF of your return to print or save.

It surely sounds as if your TurboTax account will go forward exactly as you've used it in the past.  You should be able to return to the "regular" TurboTax (vs. Live or Live Full-Service) when you prepare your 2022 return.

Specifically read the extra topics in this FAQ.  You'll see what situations CANNOT use TurboTax Live Full-Service.

What is Full Service by TurboTax Live?

Thank you for taking the time to reply, but I am not sure it answers the question. Maybe this is a better way to phrase the question:

When I start up TurboTax this year, it knew all of the relevant information I entered last year, including information on depreciation schedules, carry-over amounts for various aspects of the filing, etc. So, if I use TurboTax **Full Service** this year, for 2022 tax return, and then, in 2023, I go back to using TurboTax On Line as I have for many years, will that 2023 TurboTax session be aware of all of the information that the Full Service expert filed in 2022?

It really comes down to the question of whether or not the Full Service expert uses TurboTax (and my TurboTax account) in creating my filing? Or does that Full Service activity take place outside of TurboTax?

FYI ... if you use the FULL SERVICE option where a tax pro completes the return for you (not just helps you complete your own return using the TT program)   and signs the return they will NOT be using the TT program as that is against the law ... they must use a Professional tax program so your return  will NOT be in the TT system.  They should send you a PDF of the filed return but very little of the PDF will transfer into the TT system.

There is the live help  or the full service ... you may want to just use the help since you have been doing your own returns in the past and will again in the future ... sounds like there is something you just don't know how to handle this year.
