If im legally married but have been seperated for 7 years does my ex need my social security number to file her taxes?

Yes. When a married couple files Married Filing Separate, each of you is required to provide the other your SSN. This is because if one of you itemizes, both of you are required to itemize - even if the itemized deductions of one is ZERO. Likewise if on of you take the standard deduction, both of you are required to - even if the itemized deductions of one of you exceeds the standard deduction.

The IRS requires the spouses SSN on an MFS return, so they can cross reference and confirm you both did the same thing; either standard deduction or itemized deductions.
