If IRS has not processed 2019 return yet, they cannot verify 2020 efile with 2019 AGI. Is there a way around this?

IRS has not processed our 2019 return. We filed by mail. They received and cashed our check, but have not processed the return. Now our 2020 efile is rejected because there is no 2019 AGI on record. Is there a workaround? Prefer not to have to mail again because of all the backlog issues.

Try using a 0 for the 2019 AGI and e-file again.

I have identical situation. I tried 0 in the AGI. It was rejected again.

You have until 15 Apr 2021 or 15 Oct 2021 with an extension to file your returns. You can continue to wait and keep trying to e-file or print and mail the returns.

Since the IRS uses the prior year AGI to help reduce fraudulent returns these are your only options this year.

Just remember if you owe taxes, you want to pay by 15 Apr to avoid penalties and interest.
