Question

If my 1099-G IN Dept. of Rev.has a different amt than what TurboTax shows on my 2021 return. Which $ amt should I use? Will this cause issues with my return?

My actual return shows $140 but the 1099-G shows $790.  What am I to do?

It depends. You should use the amount reported on the Form 1099-G you received, if necessary.  Indiana (IN) is reporting what they claim they sent to you as a state refund, I'm assuming. If it is your state tax refund for your 2021 tax return, and you did itemize your deductions last year it's important to include it on your 2022 tax return.

If you did not itemize your deductions last year then you do not need to report the income if it is for a state tax refund.  You can simply keep it with your tax return.
