Do not click on anything that says "amend" for a return that was rejected.   You only use "amend" for a return was successfully filed and fully processed.  Your rejected return did not even go to the IRS.  The only way to file a 2022 return now is by mail.   E-filing is permanently closed for past year returns.  You need to print it, sign and date  it in ink, and mail it in.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses.  Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.

Use Federal  Form 1040-X to add or correct information on an already filed Federal Form 1040.

Your return does not have to be fully processed.
