When doing my 2020 taxes in turbo tax and asked about my stimulus amounts they keep trying to give me a rebate credit for one of my children that Im claiming this year but i did not claim him 2019 year. There is no by passing it they automatically want to give me a rebate credit. His dad got the stimulus in 2019 I do not want to get in trouble by IRS paying double for the same child but 2020 I fully cared for my child and he lived with me the whole year. What do i do?

It’s perfectly legal to do so. You can claim the credit this year if you claim the child as a dependent, and your ex does not have to repay the credit if they received it based on claiming the child last year. This is how the law was written—whether it was sloppy or intentional is not really important.  You are perfectly entitled to the credit, don’t worry about it.
