If my duaghter gets married, how do I change her status and file a joint return with her husband under a new name if I only have her return?

she was married on 9/30/23.  is there any way to import the son-in-law's information from a .pdf or do I have to manually input his data?

So you will be preparing the tax return for your daughter and her spouse?   Your question asked, "If my daughter gets married....."   Was she married at the end of 2023?   If she was not married at the end of 2023, she cannot file a joint return for 2023.  Are you just asking for the upcoming year for a 2024 return that will be prepared next year?

Here is how to start a new joint return using TurboTax:

You will not be able to merge two previous TT account to start your new joint return.  You can transfer ONE of your 2022 returns into a new return, so choose the most complicated one.  The other spouse’s information needs to be entered manually.

When you enter your own information in My Info, you have to answer the question "Were you married?"  If you click the button for Married, then a drop down will appear that asks, "Do you want to file this return together with your spouse?"  Then you choose yes to file a joint return.  You would then enter your spouse's information into My Info.  Whenever you are entering income information there should then be a spot for you and for your spouse's income information.  Income screens will have spots with each spouse’s name—be careful to enter under the correct names.

@reymo1978 If you are using your daughter's existing account to start the joint return, you will need to enter the spouse's information by hand.   You cannot transfer it.
