If my employer paid me with a 1099-misc and didn't take any taxes out of it, would I expect to owe around 10% of what I made to federal taxes?

the only box on 1099-MISC filled in was box 7, which from what I can tell is treated as if I am self employed.

You will need to pay self-employment tax of 15.3% for Social Security and Medicare, and you may also owe ordinary income tax depending on how much you earned and your filing status.  When you have been paid on a 1099Misc the IRS considers you to be a self employed independent contractor.  Since nothing was withheld for SS and Medicare, you have to pay both the employer portion and the employee portion.
