Question

If my girlfriend is a citizen of another country and doesn’t live in the US, do I need to pay taxes on her income that’s deposited to our checking account?

She is self employed, so I believe she would file a 1099 if she was a resident of the US. She doesn’t have a bank account of her own, so her income is wired to my checking account every month. Since it’s not technically my income, I’m not sure how I should file it, if I need to file it at all.

As your girlfriend is not a citizen or resident of the US, she is not required to report her income from abroad.

You have no obligation to declare that income as it is not your income. But it would be advisable to keep proof that these deposits on your bank account are actually her income and not yours.
