If my return gets taken every year because of owed child support. What can I do to make it so this doesn't happen again?

If your refund is always taken then make sure you don't have a refund if possible.  Under withhold so any credits you get pays the tax bill.  Unfortunately that is all you can do ... if the credits are more than your taxes owed the excess will always be taken.

And.....TurboTax never knows about offsets to your refund for child support, back taxes, etc.

You can also just pay the child support as per any agreement that you agreed to at the time the requirement to pay it was established.
