If my state does not allow taxes to be mailed in and only excepts e-file but I keep getting an error that is not a true error, what do I do to fix it?

If box 14 on my 1099-R has $800 entered and box 16 has $0 entered, what can I do so that it can be e-filed?

Enter the amount reported in box 1 of your Form 1099-R for the state distribution amount box 16.  This should clear the error condition without affecting your tax return.

Probably for NY???  PLEASE always specify what sate you are talking about.

Put the value of box 2a into box 16.    You can't have $$ withheld if nothing was distributed.

IF box 2a is empty...or "Undetermined", and you did not have any after-tax contributions to that account, then you can put the value of box 1 in box 16 instead.
