If one's spouse and I are separated (not legally) and I cannot get in touch with her for any of the info, such as what type of deduction they took, etc, what should I do?

If you are going to file a separate return (i.e. Married, Filing Separately), answer the questions as best as you can - that is all you are able to do.

If asked whether your spouse had a particular type of income, answer "No" (since you don't have an accurate number to report).

If asked for a number, enter "0" (the equivalent of answering"No").

Choose whatever deduction method you wish to use (itemized or standard); assume your spouse is using the same method. If the IRS has questions, they will ask them and you can provide an explanation at that time.
