Question

If our taxes were filed using a middle name instead of legal name should we do that again this year? I can't find a way to correct that error.

We were supposed to receive a refund but that didn't happen.  Now we are told we owe penalties instead.

Was your return accepted with that name?  For a return to be accepted, the first four letters of your last name and the last four digits of your SSN must match.
