If you changed your allowances through the year does the take into account when doing your return? Or do you have to wait and see in April? Ex single no kids or married, usually allowances 1. But 3 or 4 times , allowances have been 9. That means you will end up owing correct? Or has is been taken out already when switching back?

The higher the number of allowances you claim, the less the employer will take out to cover your tax liability. If you change it around during the year, there is no way to predict what will happen at tax time. If you withhold too little, you will have a balance due and will pay at the end.
