Question

If the date I became a resident of texas was the year of 2016 but it is not letting me put the date before 01/01/2020. Why?

I am in the armed forces so I am using my state of residence but it still isn't working.

Each tax return year is 1/1/tax year through 12/31/tax year. Even though your residency started prior, your tax return only reports information for the tax year. You would put your beginning residence as 1/1/2020 to show you were a resident on January 1 of the tax year.
