Question

If the IRS has the wrong birthdate for me on their record, can I still file my taxes using that wrong birthdate?

Yes, if you know what birth date they have for you you can file with the wrong one.

To get it changed for next year, you should check to see if Social Security has the right birth date at the Social Security website.

If they have it right call the IRS at 800-829-1040 to get them to change their records.

If you don't know what birthday they have for you you will have to print and file by mail.
