Dependents who are born or die during the year are considered your dependents for the entire year.  Therefore, if your children were under the age of 19 and qualified as your dependents at the time of their death, then you will include them on your return for 2018. You will remove them from your return in 2019.

If there was a need to file returns for one or both of them, you could file returns on their behalf, but this seems not to be your case.

Would your children have needed to file tax returns? Were they under the age of 19?  My condolences on your loss.
