Import 2021 Turbo Tax file prepared on Windows 10 into 2022 Turbo Tax on Windows 11

I have a new computer running Windows 11. I cannot import the 2021 Turbo Tax data in a pdf file format prepared on Windows 10 into 2022 Turbo Tax on Windows 11. I was told by a support agent that there is a known problem doing such an import.  I get this error message - "This import was unsuccessful." Can anyone verify the known issue?

Why are you trying to import the pdf file?  You need to Transfer from the .tax2021 file.  The pdf only transfers basic info like your name, ssn & AGI.  Copy the .tax2021 file to the new computer hard drive.

Here's an idea. Do you still have 2021 installed? Try opening 2021 program and see if you can get your 2021 return to show up in it. Go to FILE - OPEN. And see if that is the right one.

In the 2021 program do a File-Save AS and give it a easy name you can find or search for. And note where it saves it or select where to save it so you can find it again. The file will end in .tax2021. Then close the 2021 program. Then start a new 2022 return and transfer from the 2021 file.

Windows 10 can move files to different spots like to One Drive. Or to Drop Box. Could it be under a different user on your computer?

Transferring a TurboTax PDF for tax year 2021 to the 2022 TurboTax program is not dependent on the type of Windows operating system you are using.

See this TurboTax support FAQ for transferring a prior year return tax data to the Windows desktop editions - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/import-export-data-files/transfer-last-year-return-2021-turbotax-windows/L0JcyjyrG_US_en_US

Thank you. I was able to reload the 2021 version of TurboTax in Windows 11 and that solved the problem. A TurboTax support agent lead me to believe windows 10 was needed in order to load the file created on windows 10. That proved to be incorrect
