Importing error - Import unsuccessful

I have been using TT Desktop for years now. I tried to open my previous year to import into the 2024 season. I keep getting warning it was unsuccessful or can't read it. If finds the file, but won't open it. I really do not want to start from scratch again. I have tried to open my 2023 tax file within TT and says it can't open it. I filed my dad taxes last year and it open that file just fine.  I have not been able to locate the Tax2023File, I have all the other years previous. I'm using the same computer.  There are PDF files but it still won't open them, even though it states it will. So, what is the issue?

Very frustrated with TT right now, I have spent way too much time to get this resolved.

If you can't find the .tax2023 file you need (not the PDF), open the 2023 TurboTax program on your computer and at the upper left, choose 'File' and 'Save as' and save the .tax2023 file to your computer.

When you open 2024, click Begin and Transfer and TurboTax will find the .tax2023 file you just saved.

I opened the 2023 Turbotax and it clearly see the file but when I try and open it this is what I get. I do not have the option to do a Save As under File.

And when I open TurboTax 2024 this is the message I get. I have been trying to open the one with Burgess name.

I have exactly the same problem. Except that it will not open files from any year previous to 23.

I have tried for a week to reinstall OS on Mac. Air.

I have used TurboTax for decades of filings. Never run in such a problem that no one can fix !! Using easy steps to continue to file as recommended by the error box message makes me weary of more problems with other imports down the line. Intuit has the technology to solve problems like these immediately!!!!!!

I totally agree, getting frustrated with TurboTax, for a company that has been doing this for so many years, this shouldn't be happening, especially during tax season. The last thing I want to do is start all over and have to enter everything new again. I get weekly generated emails saying they are working on it...really it should have been resolved by now.

Maybe time to start looking for another software for 2025 taxes.

I had the same problem but E*trade customer service was able to tell me how to fix the problem.

If using E*trade, log into it and select your profile icon in the top right corner.

Select Security Settings from the drop down tabs.

    Select Manage Third-Party data sharing.

Select Yes to allow Third-Party Data Sharing.

    Select Save.

My account was previously set to allow third party data sharing but customer service told me to select Save anyway.  Once I did that, my Turbotax E*trade downloads worked.
