Question

In the past there was no charge to file the Federal return, only for the state . Why this change?

We purchased a CD in the past and we filed 4 Federal returns for our family with  no charge )other than the charge for the CD). For the sate filing we were charged a fee. Do we now have to pay for each Federal filing and each State filing?

Apparently in the past you were using the TurboTax desktop CD/Download editions.  It now appears that you have changed to the TurboTax online editions.  

The online editions can only be used for one tax return per account and User ID.  You are using the Deluxe online edition which is $40.  A state return when using the Deluxe online edition or higher is an additional $40
