I drove 8,000 miles on the app alone and had around $10,000 in car repairs, maybe more. I earned around $6,000 in gross earnings. My reported taxable income from my job was around $17,000. Is this guaranteed to cause a problem if don’t do something about it? I was so stressed out from working on the return for so long and I wanted to get it over with so bad, that I completely overlooked my uber income.

You will need to file an amended return.  That said, you should not file the amended return unless and until your return is accepted by the IRS and they have either processed your return or you have received any refund due.  If you don't file an amended return, the IRS will adjust your return by adding any 1099-Mis income reported to them, but they will not include any expenses.  You will be fine as long as you file the amended return timely.

What is considered timely in this situation? Like as soon as I get it?  Or do I have some slack? I certainly would like to get to it before they do. It has been accepted already.
