Solved

In Turbo Tax it says I don't get a deduction for business miles. I've always received a big deduction for mileage in past years. Does anybody know why the difference?

UPDATED FOR TAX YEAR 2019

Unfortunately, job-related expenses for most employees are no longer deductible for tax years 2018-2025.

The only employees that can deduct expenses now are:

  • Armed Forces reservists
  • Qualified performing artists
  • Fee-basis state or local government officials
  • Employees with impairment-related work expenses

You should still enter the expenses on your federal return—they will flow to your state return if they are deductible there.
