Programme keeps deleting info I thought was saved and I have to keep re-entering it. How can I prevent the programme from doing that? Is there a browser that works better than another. Can I do a manual save? And how would that be done?

Are you using the Desktop installed version or the Online web version?  If you are using the Online version you maybe logging into the wrong account each time.  And are you in the U.S or Canada?

I'm using online version. I made sure to click "save" at the bottom and it still didn't save. So frustrating! And yes, I'm using the correct return. It's all very mysterious to me.

The online version automatically saves when you log out.  You don't have to do anything.  Better call in, unless you have the Free Edition.

It's common to end up with multiple accounts. First LOG OUT of whatever TurboTax account you're logged into right now. Then use this TurboTax account recovery website to get a list of user ID's for an email address. Run the tool against any email addresses you may have used

If you used the Desktop CD/Download program then the only copy is on your computer and not saved or stored online.

And if you are in the correct account?

The major parts of any entries are saved, with some possible exceptions.

    1) Don't exit in the middle of a particular form entry....always work yoru way out to the main menu pages before exiting.  IF you exit in the middle of a form, it's hard to know what data will be waved.

    and

    2) Some follow-up questions after entry of some forms will reset every time you go thru them again, even if you don't make any changes.   This is commonly the case for follow-ups after 1099-R forms.  SO it may look like they weren't saved...but the software can't know why you are editing that form...even if it is just to look at it, so some questions are re-asked.   You set them correctly when you go thru teh Q&A.... and then leave them alone.
