I have spent a couple of hours, trying to find an answer to a question, which Intuit should have been

printing everywhere:  What version of TurboTax is able to prepare and issue Forms 1099-NEC and W-2?

There are several different ways to prepare W2 and 1099 forms depending on which version you have.  Either the Online Premium version or the Desktop Home & Business program.  If you don’t have one of those versions or you don’t use Turbo Tax I think you can still use the Quick Employer Forms and pay for them.

    Go to Quick Employer Forms

    Quick Employer Forms

In the Online Premium version you use the Quick Employer Forms.  The forms are efiled to the IRS and you print and mail them to your contractors and employees.  Start an Online return here,

In the Mac Home & Business Desktop version you use the Quick Employer Forms.  The forms are efiled to the IRS and you print and mail them to your contractors and employees.  At the bottom of the Welcome to Turbo Tax screen it should say Create 1099s for Contractors and W2s for Employees.

In the Windows Home & Business Desktop program or the separate Business program you can prepare W2 & 1099 2 ways, on your computer using the built in W2/1099 Reporter or online using the Quick Employer Forms. If you do them on your computer you have to mail the forms to the IRS yourself.
