Why do my IRA distributions, as reported on the 1099-R forms I have received that I have carefully entered in the TuboTax program, show up on the pension and annuity distributions lines on the 1040 worksheet and on form 1040 rather than on the lines for IRA distributions?

There is a box in your 1099R that you need to check stating that reads the IRA/SEP/SIMPLE box is checked on my copy of the 1099-R.  You need to check that box. It is located between lines 7 and 8 in your Turbo Tax program.

Distribution code on my 1099-R (line 7) is IRA/SEP/SIMPLE and that is what is checked on the Turbo Tax work sheet for IRA MMD.  Yet there is no entry that appears on the Turbo Tax 1040-SR line 4a (IRA distributions) form.  So I don't know if this income is being reported or not.

4b is the taxable amount.  Is there an entry on 4b?  Or did it show up on lines 4c & 4d?l

The Code is not the little IRA box.  That is a separate box you have to check on the screen.  The Code is a single letter or number like a 7.  So box 7 can have Code 7 in it.
