Is there an official document I can get from TurboTax that will be accepted by a mortgage lender as confirmation my tax return has been received by the IRS? I need this to confirm my self-employment income. Thanks! Doug [PII removed].

When you e-file your federal return you will receive two emails from TurboTax.  The first one will say that your return was submitted.  The second email will tell you if your federal return was accepted or rejected.  If you e-filed a state return, there will be a third email to tell you if the state accepted or rejected your state return.

Your return's electronic filing status history records all e-filing activity related to the return, including the Electronic Postmark. You can print it out if needed.

    TurboTax Online

https://shop.turbotax.intuit.com/efile/efile_status_lookup.jsp  -- enter the Social Security number of the first taxpayer on the return and the ZIP code to retrieve your filing status history.

    TurboTax CD/Download software

(Windows) From the TurboTax File menu, select Electronic Filing > Show Electronic Filing Status History.
(Mac) From the TurboTax File menu, select Check E-Filing Status.

If you e-filed your tax return there is an "electronic postmark" that will show when you e-filed and that the return was accepted.

Follow-up question: is there any delay in acceptance while the estimated tax vouchers are generated? The lender is requesting some official documentation from the IRS showing return has been accepted for filing. Thanks! Doug [PII removed]

Not usually.  However, since the IRS recently opened the gates for e-file there could be a slight delay in the processing time right now. You will receive confirmation emails as noted by @Critter-3.

Thanks all for the replies. I called the IRS helpline as well and here is what I was told:

The IRS will "stamp" a copy if you physically file it at an IRS office with someone. I don't know anybody who files taxes this way.

I understand the IRS has an electronic portal and his has some form of certification.

The helpline person told me that as far as the IRS is concerned, when an approved vendor like TurboTax e-mails me to say my return is filed and accepted that it is filed and accepted. The only thing they are ever going to issue is a transcript identical to the electronic copy of my TurboTax filing.

If you go to an IRS office they MAY  accept an ink signed copy of the return and stamp a duplicate copy of the return accepted  HOWEVER that return will be forwarded to the regional office that handles paper returns  and paper returns take more than 4 months to process ... in 2022 they took up to a year.
