Is a notary public a fee based government employee

As a notary public I do not receive any income in the form of salary or wages from the government. My income is solely based on fees from the public for performing a service. You did not answer my question.

No, a notary public is not a fee-based government employee.

A fee-based public official is an individual who receives and retains remuneration directly from the public. An individual who receives payment for services from government funds in the form of a wage or salary is not a based public official, even if the compensation is called a fee.

You will report your notary income on Schedule C Profit or Loss from Business. You can access Schedule C by searching for Schedule C and then select Jump to Schedule C in the results box. Follow the program prompts to the page Enter Business Income That's Not on a 1099-MISC on the line Income or Sales. You will enter your notary income that was not reported on a W-2 or a 1099-MISC on this line.
