Question

Is anyone else getting a problem with Turbo Tax not applying the standard deduction before calculating the AGI?

I can't tell if I've entered something wrong or if it's Turbo Tax, because doing it quickly by hand and Turbo Tax are giving me wildly different numbers. (I know quickly by hand is less accurate, but the numbers shouldn't be this far off.)

Your Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) is calculated before applying the standard deduction.  

 

When you take a look at Form 1040, your AGI is shown on line 11, right before the standard deduction on line 12.  

 

Click the following 2022 Form 1040 for confirmation.
