Question

Is it better to wait after the divorce to file or does it make a difference? The divorce is in 1 week

Does not make a difference.

If you were legally married on 12/31/2020 you can only file your tax return as either Married Filing Jointly or Married Filing Separately.

Unless you did not live with you spouse at any time in the last six months of 2020, have a dependent child and provided over one-half of the cost to maintain your home you may be eligible to file as Head of Household - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/married/help/can-a-married-person-claim-head-of-household-filing-status/01/26366

you need to exchange SS numbers and other tax related  financial info.

Your attorney may need to get involved.
