Untrue. What is different is that the software is a download this year----no CD in the package. All of the tax software companies have eliminated CD's. You can still purchase TurboTax desktop software from various retailers (including amazon) and it will work just like always. You just download instead of putting a piece of plastic into a disk drive. If you really really want a CD you can order one after you pay for the download and have your license key.

You can also purchase the desktop download from various retailers such as Costco, Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, Staples, Sam’s Club, etc. etc. etc.

However, I believe that some of Turbotax's usual retail partners have decided not to carry the empty box. It depends on the individual store.

Some of the retailers might not carry the "empty" package in the store, but the downloads are available online
