There isn't a court order for support and divorce was in December, Was the money I gave the custodial parent a gift or income? Do I do the computation and claim a portion as alimony?

If there was no decree or written separation agreement, the money was a gift, not deductible to you or taxable to the recipient.  To be alimony, it must be paid under divorce or separate maintenance decrees or written separation agreement

Forms 1099 aren't issued for alimony.  If your check is paid in accordance with a decree and it's alimony, you report it.
