Is the “employer state id number” required to file taxes??

    Yes.

    If you have a W-2 which shows state tax withheld or state income earned, ( on the W-2 Boxes 15,16 or 17 ) there should also be a state employers ID number in Box 15. 

     

    If there is none, try using the employer EIN number in Box b above the employer's name on the W-2.
