Question

Is the Georgia one time payment of $350 taxable?

People who live in Georgia and who are on Medicaid received a one time $350 master card from Georgia in 2022.

This money is coming from the federal Covid relief money sent to Georgia.

Is this considered taxable income and if so where would this be entered in TurboTax?

No.  Income from Medicaid/SNAP/TNAF is not taxable on your federal or state tax return.

    Thanks for your response Dawn.

I am  not sure that the $350 is Income from Medicaid/SNAP/TNAF , but rather a way for Georgia to gather names of Medicaid/SNAP/TNAF recepients who normally do not file income tax returns.

We want to file a return this year for my son but are stumped on if the one time $350 master card from Georgia in 2022 is taxable.

It seems that the decision is still out on whether this amount will be taxable.  Actually since the funds were from a special budget and not a part of the normal Medicaid assistance relief programs, it could become taxable, when the dust settles.

Form all indications, it seems that the cash payments will not be taxed.  See the article below for more information.

I would file and leave it off and if a decision is made contrary to my filing, I would then consider amending my return.
