Is there a special code I must enter to deduct the 29.99 fee you are trying to charge me as I am active military....

 A Moderator has told me that military users E1-E5 who start out in Free Edition instead of the free Deluxe and encounter a PLUS charge can upgrade to Deluxe (free for E1-E5) to avoid this.

So once you upgrade to the Deluxe Edition, the PLUS charge should disappear, and pay grades E1-E5 should have no fees for Federal or State.

Be sure you have entered your military W-2, and answered all of the military questions.   Right after the W-2 screen is a followup screen that says "Do any of these unusual situations apply to this W-2?"    If applicable, be sure you put a checkmark on that screen where it say "active duty military".   It's easy to miss, since you were already asked about active duty on an earlier screen in the interview.

IF it does somehow still try to charge you for anything at the end, report back.  Do not pay.  It will be easier to resolve if it's corrected before paying than trying to resolve it afterwards.
