Is there a way to deduct what you paid for your health insurance premiums ? we are retired and paid 11,600 for health insurance.

Health insurance premiums are deductible as medical expenses if you itemize deductions.

 

To enter your medical /insurance expenses in TurboTax:

  • Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
  • Click on Deductions and Credits
  • Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
  • Scroll down to Medical
  • On Medical Expenses, click the start or update button

TurboTax will walk you through the various medical categories to enter your health insurance premiums.
