Question

It appears that my self-employed health insurance premium is being incorrectly double counted by turbo tax software and the numbers in Q&A do not match drill down.

We paid $6480 of self-employe health insurance premiums in 2016.  However, line 29 of the 1040 deductions shows $12,960 - so this figure is somehow double counted in questionnaire.  I only see the correct amount of $6,480 on Schedule C "Health LTC Wks" - so this worksheet does not match the $12,960 on line 29.

I also see the incorrect 12,960 number in the Q&A in "self-employed health insurance" under business income and expenses...but when I click on "Update", it states "We have deducted from your income, $6,480 of allowable self-employed health insurance attributed to your Schedule C."

I'm not sure how this item is being double counted.  Is there another source for this number in the Q&A that could cause it to be double counted?

Did you enter any health insurance under the Health Insurance tab or 1095-A? When you enter it there, it flows to line 29 for SE Health Insurance.  If that's the case, delete it from the Business section.

1.       Open your return and click the Business tab.

2.       Continue to How do you want to enter your business income? and click I'll choose what I work on.

3.       Scroll down to Self-employed Health Insurance (under the Less Common Business Situations heading) and click Edit
